Robert Fischer (pharmacist)

Robert Walter Fischer (born August 15, 1903 in Innsbruck , † January 9, 1996 in Graz ) was an Austrian pharmacist and university professor .

Life

Robert Fischer, born on August 15, 1903 in Innsbruck, began studying pharmacy at the University of Innsbruck after graduating from high school , before becoming Mag. Pharm. sponsored and in 1927 Dr. phil. PhD . After years as an assistant , Fischer completed his habilitation there in 1930 as a private lecturer in pharmacognosy before he was awarded the title of extraordinary professor in 1937. In the same year, Fischer, who later joined the NSDAP in 1933 and later also the SS and was employed as senior squad leader of the NS motor vehicle corps and as a functionary of the NS lecturers ' association, moved to the University of Graz as titular associate professor , where he became an associate professor in 1939 Pharmacognosy and the management of the Pharmacognostic Institute was transferred.

In 1963 Fischer finally took over the chair for pharmacognosy and microchemistry , which he held until his retirement . In 1964, in recognition of his services to the creation of new micro-methods, he was awarded the Dr. Fritz Pregl Prize awarded by the Austrian Society for Microchemistry. Robert Fischer died on January 9, 1996 at the age of 92 in Graz.
