Robert Madl
Robert Mädl (born November 13, 1939 in Neusiedl am See ; † June 30, 2011 ) was an Austrian bank manager who was general director of the Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft (ÖVAG) from 1985 to 1999 .
education
After passing the final examination at the secondary school Vienna Strebersdorf he completed theoretical and practical training as a bank clerk in the savings bank sector before it first on August 1, 1976 as the auditor in the Austrian Cooperative Association entered and there soon management agendas in the Volksbank Group took over.
Professional activity
In 1976 he moved to Volksbank Baden as managing director and in 1979 became chairman of the executive board. During his activities, the Volksbank Baden became the largest Volksbank in Lower Austria through regional mergers .
In the Volksbank Association, he first became a member of the association committee and, in 1984, Vice President of the Austrian Cooperative Association. He was appointed General Director of Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft on November 7, 1985. Under his leadership, ÖVAG was transformed from a pure top institute in the Volksbank sector to a central institute with a commercial banking function.
Shortly after the opening of the East, at the beginning of the 1990s, the team with his future successor Klaus Thalhammer began to work in Eastern Europe and entered into a cooperation with DZ-Bank . From 1994 to 2002 he was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Allgemeine Bausparkasse .
On May 1, 1999, Mädl retired. He died after a serious illness.
Public functions
In the Lower Austria Chamber of Commerce , General Director Mädl was Section Chairman of the Monetary, Credit and Insurance Department and in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce he was a member of the Federal Section of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
