Robert Mark Kamen

Robert Mark Kamen (born October 9, 1947 in the Bronx , New York City ) is an American screenwriter . He is particularly active in the field of action films.

Life

Kamen was born and raised in New York City. He studied at the New York University literature and obtained a degree. Kamen later received his PhD in American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania .

Kamen spent a year in Afghanistan and in 1971 wrote an autobiographical book about this time. On this basis, he also wrote a screenplay, which Warner Brothers bought, but was not made into a film. The following year he wrote the screenplay for The Cadets of Bunker Hill . In 1989, Kamen appeared as a producer and participated in the comic film adaptation The Punisher .

In 2003 Kamen was involved as executive producer on several episodes of the short-lived television series Black Sash , which also goes back to his ideas.

In the early 1990s, Kamen was active as a script assassin for Warner Brothers. In 1993 he met Luc Besson in this context . Since then, Kamen has worked closely with the director and producer Besson. Kamen wrote a variety of scripts for his productions. Another director he worked with a number of times was John G. Avildsen . Together they worked on the first three parts of the Karate Kid series.

Kamen was nominated for the Golden Raspberry in 1990 because of his script for Karate Kid III .
