Life

In Vienna he was awarded Dr. iur. PhD. After training in Brno , Graz and Vienna, he was court attorney in Vienna from 1876 to 1903. As an anti-Semite , he was first close to the Pan-Germans and Georg von Schönerer in his political career . He worked on the German national Linz program from 1882 and was President of the Austrian Reform Association from 1882 to 1885 . Soon he joined the emerging Christian Social Party . In it he played a leading role at times; but he did not come up against Karl Lueger . As his career progressed, he became cautious about his hostility to Jews , which earned him the nickname “Salon anti-Semite”.

From 1885 to 1911 he represented his residential district Mariahilf in the Reichsrat. From 1886 he took part in the duck evenings initiated by Karl von Vogelsang , during which the spiritual foundations of the Christian Social Party were worked out. From 1899 to 1915 he sat in the state parliament of Lower Austria . From 1901 he was a permanent reporter at the Imperial Court . From 1909 to 1911 he was President of the Reichsrat . Because of his legal and technical knowledge, he was sent several times as a member of commissions to prepare relevant laws. He played a role in the local railway system. After he had lost to the Social Democrat Karl Leuthner in the 1911 Reichsrat election, he no longer emerged politically. In 1917 he was appointed to the manor house . In 1905 he refused an appeal. Robert Pattai died at the age of 74 on October 2, 1920 in the Ober Sankt Veiter Cemetery. The grave site was re-assigned in 2008.
