Career

With his first successes at the district and gaume championships in the Mannheim area , he grew into the top German light heavyweight division in the mid-1920s. He wrestled exclusively in the Greco-Roman style. Together with the German champion from 1925 Hans Pöhlmann , Nuremberg , he qualified in 1925 for participation in the 1925 European championship in Milan . There he was able to occupy 2nd place in the light heavyweight class with victories over Vandenabelle, Belgium , László Papp , Hungary , Cattai, Italy , and a loss to Carl Westergren , Sweden . In 1926 he won the German light heavyweight championship in front of Willi Presber , Oggersheim , and R. Pereles, Vienna . At the European Championships in Riga in 1926 he was in top form, defeating Palmbachs, Latvia , Alexander Szabó , Czechoslovakia , and Rudolf Loo , Estonia , and became European champion .

At the German championships in 1927 he was 2nd winner behind Adolf Rieger , Berlin . On February 7, 1928 he defeated in Paris in an international match Germany against France Émile Clody by fall. In qualifying for the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, Robert Rupp failed to Adolf Rieger. He made another big appearance: at the European Championships in Dortmund in 1929 . There he won over Petersons, Latvia, Mario Gruppioni , Italy, and Émile Clody, France , but lost to Onni Pellinen , Finland , and was again vice European champion. In November 1929 he won a wrestling tournament in Copenhagen , where he achieved a clear point victory over the 1928 light heavyweight Olympic champion Ibrahim Mustafa , Egypt .

In the years from 1930 he fought for many good placements at district and gaume championships and successfully competed in the team for his club RSC Eiche Sandhofen, but could not prevail at any German championship.
