Robert Scholten
Robert Scholten (born April 30, 1831 in Rees , † January 30, 1910 in Kleve ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and historian .
Live and act
Robert Scholten was born as the youngest child of master baker Johann Matthias Scholten and his wife Rosina, nee. Bosch, born in Rees . He was one of the first to graduate in 1854 from the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck, which was newly founded in 1849 . After studying Catholic theology received Scholten 1858 in Münster the priesthood . In 1860 he received his doctorate in Munich with Max von Stadlbaur with a dissertation on Christian archeology and in the same year began his work as a religion teacher at the Royal High School in Kleve.
Since 1879 Scholten published a large number of historical studies on cities, towns and spiritual institutions of the Kleverland.
He died in Kleve in 1910.
