Robert Skotak

Robert Skotak (* before 1976) is a special effects artist and VFX supervisor .

Life

Skotak began his career in the late 1970s and made his debut in film in 1976 as a production assistant at the B-Movie - action film The Northville massacre . In the following year he was responsible for special effects and makeup for the horror film Curse of the Demons in addition to his function as a production assistant. From the early 1980s he specialized in visual effects . Early on, developed a collaboration with James Cameron , with whom he first time at Sador - ruler in space worked, and in the science fiction film as an art director worked.

After two more films together, including John Carpenter's The Rattlesnake , Skotak worked for Aliens - The Return for the first time in 1986 under Cameron. In 1987 , together with Stan Winston , John Richardson and Suzanne M. Benson, they won the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects . He also won the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Visual Effects category with Winston, Richardson and Brian Johnson . Skotak is married to VFX supervisor Elaine Edford . His brother Dennis also works as a VFX supervisor and was awarded a special effects Oscar. He is married to screenwriter Dorothy Fontana .
