Michael Robert Graf von Althann Freiherr auf der Goldburg zu Murstetten (born July 18, 1853 in Militschowes , Gitschin district , Bohemia; † February 25, 1919 in Vienna ) was an Austro-Prussian landowner and politician.

Althann came from the Althann family , who owned extensive land in the Austrian Empire as well as some goods in the Prussian county of Glatz since 1763 . By owning the Majorat Mittelwalde , the family held a hereditary seat in the Prussian manor house . The Althann also had a hereditary seat in the Austrian manor house .

Robert von Althann was the son of Michael Karl Graf von Althann and his second wife Caroline Sarah Thomas (1827–1880). In 1885 he married Antonia Countess von Hatzfeld-Wildenburg (1856–1933), daughter of the manor house member Alfred Fürst von Hatzfeldt and Gabriele von Dietrichstein-Proskau-Leslie . The couple had three children.

Life

After the death of his father Michael Karl, Althann was Herr in the dominions of Mittelwalde, Schönfeld , Wölfelsdorf (Grafschaft Glatz, Silesia), the dominions Zwentendorf and Murstetten (Austria) as well as Swojschitz , Grulich and Militschoves (Bohemia). He was a first class Spanish grandee . In the Archduchy of Austria above and below the Enns, he had the ceremonial rank of Colonel Hereditary Pre-cutter, shield bearer and referee.

Robert von Althann had been a member of both the Prussian mansion and the Austrian mansion with hereditary rights since 1883. He held both seats until the dissolution of these parliaments in 1918.
