Murstetten is a place and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Perschling in the St. Pölten district . It is located northwest of Neulengbach at 278 m above sea level at the foot of the Frauenberg (378 m), on the northern edge of the Haspelwald .
In the center of Murstetten you can still find the ruined garden wall of the Goldburg , once one of the most magnificent castles in Lower Austria, which was destroyed in 1809 under Napoleon I.
On May 17, 1864, 14 houses as well as the church, the school and the rectory were destroyed in a devastating fire. As a result, the Murstetten volunteer fire brigade was founded.
Murstetten has a bus stop that is served by a regional bus line several times a day. Cabaret and music events take place regularly in the Dorfwirtshaus zum Schwarzen Ochsen .
