Robert von Förster

Robert Wilhelm Viktor Sigismund von Förster (born April 29, 1913 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld , † October 29, 1984 in Bonn ) was a German diplomat.

Life

Förster began to study law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . He was active in the Corps Saxonia Göttingen from 1931 to Easter 1933 . He then studied at the German University in Prague , where he also joined the Corps Frankonia Prague . He finished his studies at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . In 1936 he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . In March 1939 he passed the assessor exam. After a short time in the Foreign Office , he was drafted into the Army (Wehrmacht) . As a first lieutenant in the reserve , he was taken prisoner of war , from which he was released in 1946. He was first a judge in Syke and Verden (Aller) , then a lawyer and notary in Bremen . In 1953 he returned to the Foreign Service. From 1955 to 1959 he was at the embassy in Baghdad , afterwards personnel officer at the Bonn headquarters. From 1967 to 1973 he was ambassador in Lima , then in Bogotá until retirement . He spent his retirement in Bonn. He is buried in the Bad Godesberg Central Cemetery. He was married to Grethe born in 1950. Gynther-Nielsen.
