Roberto Anzolin (born April 18, 1938 in Valdagno (VI) - † October 6, 2017 ) was an Italian football goalkeeper .

During his active career, he was nicknamed "il gatto" (the cat) because of his great reflexes.

Career

In the club

Roberto Anzolin began his career at AC Marzotto , his hometown club. He started his professional career with US Palermo , for which he made his Serie A debut on September 20, 1959 in the game against AS Bari .

Between 1961 and 1970 he played for Juventus Turin , with whom he won the Coppa Italia in the 1964/65 season and the Italian championship in 1966/67 . At Juve , despite his height of 1.67 m for a goalkeeper, he was a regular goalkeeper for eight years and stood between the posts a total of 305 times.

In 1970 Anzolin moved to Atalanta Bergamo , from 1971 to 1973 he played for Lanerossi Vicenza , after which he was still active at Valleverde Riccione FC and AC Juniorcasale .

In the national team

Roberto Anzolin was appointed to the Italian national football team four times in his career . His only international match he completed on June 29, 1966 under Edmondo Fabbri in the World Cup preparatory game against Mexico , which the Azzurri won 5-0. At the World Cup in England in 1966 , he took part as a substitute goalkeeper behind Enrico Albertosi without playing a game.
