Roberto Nani took part in junior races from the winter of 2003/2004 and started in FIS races for the first time in the next season . In the FIS races he only rarely achieved top placements at first. It wasn't until February 2009 that he celebrated his first victory. In the 2009/2010 season Nani came to his first European Cup appearances , but mostly he started in FIS races this winter. Since the 2010/11 season he has regularly competed in the slalom and giant slalom races in the European Cup. He won European Cup points for the first time in his third race of the season in 25th place, was already in the top 15 twice in January and celebrated his first victory at the end of the season by winning the Formigal slalom on March 16, 2011. Ten days earlier, Nani had contested his first World Cup race with the Kranjska Gora slalom , in which he was eliminated in the first round.
In the 2011/12 season Nani celebrated another European Cup victory in the slalom of Lenzerheide . With a total of seven top 10 placements, he was also among the top ten in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines as well as in the European Cup. In addition to the European Cup, Nani also came to several World Cup appearances. He won his first and this winter only World Cup points on January 8th, 2012 when he finished 21st in the Adelboden slalom . At the end of the season he was Italian slalom champion . In the 2012/13 season , Nani was able to catch up with the top in the World Cup. He achieved his first top 20 result in 18th place in the giant slalom in Sölden, and six weeks later he made it into the top 10 for the first time in tenth in the giant slalom in Val-d'Isère . His best result so far is fourth place in the giant slalom in Sölden on October 25, 2015. In 2019, he took part in the East Timorese Alpine Ski Championships .
