Robin Quinville
Robin S. Quinville (born June 21, 1956 ) is an American diplomat and has been an envoy at the United States Embassy in Berlin since July 2018 . She has been Chargé d' affaires of the US Embassy in Germany since June 2, 2020 .
Life
Quinville holds a Master of Arts and a Master of Philosophy in European History from Columbia University in New York . She joined the United States Foreign Service in 1988 . After first assignments in Germany and Washington , she worked from 1992 to 1996 as a member of the US delegation to the OSCE in Vienna . She was then sent to the Permanent Mission of the United States to NATO in Brussels , where from 1996 to 1999 she was entrusted with issues relating to NATO's eastward expansion . Quinville then continued her career in Cyprus , Bosnia and Herzegovina and Athens . From January 2008 to January 2009, she was Chief of Staff in Baghdad to Ambassador Charles Ries , the coordinator for economic transition in Iraq . Subsequently, she was Envoy Counselor for Political Affairs at the US embassies in London (2009 to 2012) and Berlin (2012 to 2015). From 2015 to 2017 Quinville headed the Western European Affairs Unit at the US State Department . Prior to her current position, she was a US State Department Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (2017-2018).
Acting Ambassador to Germany
On May 24, 2020, it was announced that the US Ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell , would resign. After Grenell's resignation on June 1, 2020, she temporarily took over the office of US ambassador in Berlin.
