Rock Steady is the fifth studio album by the US band No Doubt . It was released on December 11, 2001 on Interscope Records . It was the band's last album until their comeback Push and Shove in 2012.

history

No Doubt began writing the album in Los Angeles and San Francisco . In the latter city z. B. the beginnings of the hit single Hey Baby together with Philip Steir . The first rhythms were created using Pro Tools . The band then traveled to London and Jamaica to work with various producers and songwriters . These included well-known artists such as Sly & Robbie , The Neptunes and William Orbit . This includes various influences from dancehall , dub or electronic music, for example . Prince sang and composed the song Waiting Room .

reception

The third single Underneath It All won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 2004 Grammy Awards . The album was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2003 Grammy Awards . Klaus Hardt from Laut.de awarded 3 out of 5 stars. He criticized: “The problem with the record is not the use of the many different styles, but the implementation. Most of the songs are too simple and therefore a bit boring. ”He highlighted Hella Good and Hey Baby as successful .
