Roey Aharonovich (born July 7, 1996 in Rishon LeZion ) is an Israeli ice hockey player who has been playing for the Neumann University team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association since 2017 . His younger brother Tomer is also an Israeli international.

Career

Roey Aharonovich began his career with the Devils Rischon LeZion from his hometown, for whom he made his debut in the Israeli ice hockey league at the age of 16 . With the team from the Gush Dan he became Israeli national champion in 2013 . He then moved to North America, where he played for the Rice Memorial High School team in the US High School League for two years . In 2015, he was drawn by the Billing Bulls in the North American 3 Hockey League's draft in round five as the 152nd player and stood for one season on the ice for this team. In 2016 he was drawn in the tenth round of the GMHL Draft by the New Tecumseth Civics as a total of 276th player, but did not change there, but initially joined New York Apple Core from the Eastern Junior Hockey League. After only nine games for the team from the east coast metropolis, he moved to the Chicago Cougars in the USPHL, where he ended the season. Since 2017 he has been playing for the Neumann University team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association .

International

In the junior division, Aharonovich played for Israel at the U18 World Championships in 2013 , when he had the best plus / minus balance of the tournament, and in 2014 and the U20 World Cup in 2016 , when he was the top scorer and best preparer of the tournament and also the best player on his team was elected in Division III.

He made his debut in the 2015 Division II World Cup in the Israeli men's national team . He also played in Division II in 2016 , 2017 and 2018. He also represented his colors in qualifying for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
