Roland Eisen

Roland Eisen (born February 26, 1941 in Stuttgart ) is a German economist and social policy scientist specializing in insurance science.

Life

Roland Eisen was born in Stuttgart, where he attended school, acquired his university entrance qualification and began studying economics in 1960 . After completing his intermediate diploma, he moved to the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU), where he graduated in 1965 with a degree in economics . As a research assistant at the Institute for Insurance Science at the LMU, he received his doctorate in 1971 with an interdisciplinary dissertation at the intersection of economics, social and technical sciences as a doctor of oeconomiae publicae .

In the following years, Roland Eisen expanded his interdisciplinary beginning to include political science , socio-cybernetic and communication- theoretical aspects and in 1977 he formed a first synthesis with a habilitation thesis on the theory of the insurance balance.

From 1978 to 1979 Eisen held a substitute professorship for social policy at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg , from 1981 to 1983 he was professor for household economics at the Technical University of Munich / Campus Weihenstephan . In 1983 Roland Eisen was appointed to the full professorship for economic and labor market policy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . He has been retired since 2007.

As part of his Frankfurt university professorship, Eisen held various academic functions and positions, such as the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics there in the academic year 1992/93. He taught as visiting professor in 1993 at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and in 1998 at the Norwegian School of Commerce in Bergen . He also held teaching positions at the Munich School of Politics , the German Insurance Academy and the Hessian Administration and Business Academy .

Roland Eisen's research focuses on economic and social policy (in particular labor economics and health economics ), insurance theory and business cycle , growth and distribution theory . From 1992 to 1997, Eisen headed an interdisciplinary research project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation on alternatives to long-term care insurance in the EC (“PflEG project”). Since 1997 he has headed a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) "Evaluation of the Effects of the Long-Term Care Insurance Act on intrafamilary long-term care insurance arrangements".

Roland Eisen is the leading initiator and organizer of national and international specialist congresses on political and economic issues. He also advises various governments as an expert on social security systems.
