Roland Klenk

Roland Klenk (born March 1, 1952 in Murrhardt ) is a German local politician ( CDU ). He has been Lord Mayor of Leinfelden-Echterdingen since 2002 .

Life

Klenk passed the Abitur at the Mörike-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg . He then studied at the University of Tübingen Law . After the first state examination , he completed his legal clerkship at the Hechingen district court . In 1981 Klenk passed the second state examination with distinction . After completing his studies, he worked in administration at the University of Tübingen, initially as a personal advisor to the president until 1986, then as head of the central administration department. In 1989 he was seconded to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science and Art as a research officer . From 1990 Klenk headed the university department for research, from 1992 the department for academic affairs and structural planning.

In 1994 Klenk became a member of the parliament in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg and parliamentary advisor to the CDU state parliamentary group in the fields of schools, youth and sport, science, research and the arts. In 1998 he was Mayor in Lahr / Black Forest . On October 14, 2001, Klenk achieved 43.5 percent in the first round of the mayoral elections in Leinfelden-Echterdingen . In the second ballot he was elected on November 4, 2001 by 50.93 percent of the electorate for a term beginning on January 15, 2002 as the new mayor of the major district town. In the elections on November 8, 2009, Klenk received 86.97 percent and in the November 2017 election 88.24 percent of the vote. He is thus taking up his third term in office for a further eight years.

Klenk is married and has two children.
