Roland Lacher (born August 22, 1942 in Vienna ) is a German engineer and entrepreneur .

Life

Lacher attended the humanistic Arndt Gymnasium in Krefeld . After graduating from high school, he completed an internship in the machine factory founded by Ernst Schiess in Düsseldorf . He then studied general mechanical engineering with a focus on industrial and production engineering at the Technical University of Munich . He became a member of the Corps Cisaria in November 1962 and held the office of Munich SC senior in the winter semester 1966/67 .

As a graduate engineer , he became assistant director in the production of Krauss-Maffei . In 1975 he moved to the Engel machine shop in Schwertberg , Austria, later to Passavant in Aarbergen , WIBAU in Gelnhausen and Leybold Anlagenbau in Hanau . As a management buy-out from Leybold, he founded Singulus Technologies as a GmbH in Kahl am Main in 1995 together with a colleague and two financial investors . As chairman of the board, he brought the manufacturer of machines for CD and DVD production to the Deutsche Börse in Frankfurt am Main . With the Blu-ray Disc , he led the company to the top of the world. In 2005 it was taken over by competitor Steag HamaTech. With the development of vacuum coating systems for semiconductors and production systems for the manufacture of solar cells , additional business areas were established. From 2006 to 2011 Lacher was Chairman of the Supervisory Board .
