Roland Reime (born March 30, 1945 in Hamburg ; † March 24, 2017 in Kiel ) was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Provinzial Nord from 1999 to 2006 and President of the Holstein Kiel football club from 2007 until his death .

job

Reime trained as an insurance salesman with a Hamburg insurance company , which he completed in 1963. In 1967 he moved to Allianz Leben AG , where in 1974 he became head of corporate consultancy in Northern Germany and in 1979 took over the branch management in Hamburg. From there he moved to the Transatlantic Life Insurance Company, and in 1985 he joined Gerling GmbH in Hanover as sales manager. A year later he became managing director of Gerling & Co. GmbH in Münster with sole signing authority .

On March 1, 1992, Reime became a member of the board of the Provinzial Nord insurance group and from January 1, 1999 its chairman. As such, he played a key role in the merger with the Westphalian Provinzial to create the Provinzial NordWest . In 2006, Reime retired from the insurance industry for health reasons.

Sports official

In sport, Reime was a member of the advisory board of Preußen Münster from 1988 to 1991 , where he experienced promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . After moving to Schleswig-Holstein in 1992, he became chairman of the advisory board of the THW Kiel handball club in 1993 , whose main sponsor for many years was the Provinzial. He only left this position at THW Kiel in July 2007 to take up his new position as President at Holstein Kiel. Under his leadership, Holstein Kiel achieved two-fold promotion from the Oberliga Nord (2007/08) to the Regionalliga Nord (2008/09) in the 3rd division (2009/10). Reime caused a sensation when he dismissed the then coach Peter Vollmann during the winter break of 2008/09 and replaced him with the former Bundesliga coach Falko Götz , although Holstein Kiel was top of the table at the time. Reime justified this step with a necessary professionalization of the club's operations and named as the goal of his work promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga by 2012. After Kiel was promoted to the 3rd league in 2009, relegation was missed, so that after only one season the club was ninth in the table and only rose again in 2013. Reime with Holstein Kiel only narrowly missed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2015 with an opposing goal in stoppage time of the relegation game at TSV 1860 Munich .

Roland Reime died on March 24, 2017 after a brief serious illness and so did not experience the promotion of his club to the 2nd Bundesliga on May 13, 2017. DFB President Reinhard Grindel commented that Reime would certainly have found this ascent "the completion of his many years of voluntary work".

Volunteering

Reime was also the chairman of the Friends of the Schleswig-Holstein Open-Air Museum .
