Roland Sauer (born September 11, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player who worked for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig and FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / O. was active in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . He is a multiple GDR junior national player.

Athletic career

As a player of 1. FC Lok Leipzig, Roland Sauer was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team in the summer of 1980 . With her he played 17 international matches as a defender until 1981 and was successful with two goals. From the 1980/81 season on, 1. FC Lok Sauer started in the junior league . He also played three international matches with the GDR junior national team this season . In the seasons 1982/83 and 1983/84 Sauer played one game in the GDR league, but only worked once over the full playing time as a right defender.

For the 1984/85 season, Sauer moved to the second-rate GDR league club Chemie Böhlen , where he was part of the team until 1987. He played 80 games out of 95 possible point appearances, scoring five goals. In May 1987 he was called up for military service in the National People's Army , where he was given the opportunity to continue playing football. First he was used in the army sports community forward Dessau , where he completed 16 point games in the GDR league by December 1987. Afterwards he was delegated to the leading club of the Vorwärts Army Sports Association , FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / O. There he first had to take over the post of the injured libero Lothar Haus and moved to the pre-stopper position after his recovery . Sauer was used in all 13 point games by the end of the season.

FC Vorwärts ended the season as relegated, and Sauer returned to Vorwärts Dessau, where he played 19 of the 34 GDR league games (2 goals) in the 1988/89 season. Subsequently, Vorwärts Dessau was dissolved and Sauer rejoined the GDR league club Chemie Böhlen. A 13-point game inserts without goals changed Sauer, although Bohlen had risen in the league after just one season for 1. FC Markkleeberg that after the accession of East German football into a DFB in the second-class league of the Northeast German Football Association played. Sauer was only able to play eleven of the 30 games in the league and also did not score in Markkleeberg. Things went better for Sauer in the last competition for the FDGB Cup. 1. FC Markkleeberg reached the round of 16, with Sauer participating in all three games. After the reorganization of the DFB league system, 1. FC Markkleeberg was incorporated into the third-class Northeast football league for the 1991/92 season . This ended his career in high-class football for the 29-year-old Roland Sauer.
