Lothar home (born October 22, 1955 in Lübbenau ) is a former German soccer player. During his career for FC Vorwärts Frankfurt between autumn 1973 and spring 1991 he played over 400 competitive games in the first team.
Athletic career
TSG, club and association stations
Lothar home comes from the youth department of TSG Lübbenau . In 1971, at the age of 15, he was delegated to FC Vorwärts Frankfurt, which had recently been relocated from Berlin to the Oder. At national level, Lothar home remained loyal to FC Vorwärts throughout his career and advanced to become the team captain of the Oderstadt team for many years. After first games in the Frankfurt league team in the 1972/73 season , he quickly made the leap into the top division, in which he became a regular from the mid-1970s.
With the army sports club , the Libero reached the finals in the FDGB Cup twice , in which the red-yellows were left behind against their major league rivals 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . The best championship placement for home resulted from the 1982/83 season , in which FC forward brought in the runner-up. The sporting low point in his career was formed by the 1978 and 1988 seasons , after which the Frankfurters had to go into the second division. Although at home with FC Vorwärts both times they managed to return to the upper house, he and his teammates could no longer prevent the former record champions' continuous sporting descent within the hierarchy of GDR football .
Despite a few injury breaks, Lothar home is the most frequently positioned player in the history of FC Vorwärts with a total of 352 point games, 281 of which are in the major league. In addition, in the entire Frankfurt era, the Red-Yellows are the only players who have repeatedly been part of the GDR national team's starting XI at international A matches.
Selection bets
Home went through all of the DFV's junior national teams . In addition to 28 international junior matches, the FCV talent also played over twenty appearances in the U21 team . With this he reached the final at the European Championship in 1978 , which was lost against Yugoslavia with 0-1 and 4-4 in a round trip.
The company's greatest international success was winning the silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with the GDR's Olympic selection . Together with his teammates, he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze for this achievement after the competitions in the Soviet capital .
In addition, the Frankfurter was appointed to the senior national team in nine matches . His only goal was scored at home in 1982 in Leipzig, when he overcame the exceptional goalkeeper Dino Zoff in the GDR's 1-0 win over Italy . The defensive player, who was primarily used as a libero, was denied a regular place because he was unable to prevail over Hans-Jürgen Dörner ( Dynamo Dresden ), Dirk Stahmann ( 1. FC Magdeburg ) or Norbert Trieloff ( BFC Dynamo ).
Further career
After the Oderstädter failed to qualify for all-German professional football in 1991, Lothar home said goodbye to competitive sports and moved to Salzgitter . In his new adopted home, he then worked as a trainer for various sports clubs - including SV Union Salzgitter and TSV from Hallendorf . The first men of the Salzgitteran district league club FC Viktoria Thiede from 1913 have been training home since July 2008.
Trivia
Home was considered unreliable by the Ministry for State Security , and an escape from the GDR was also considered possible. The highlight was the 1980/81 UEFA Cup when FC Vorwärts met VfB Stuttgart in the second round . Although he had played against Stahl Riesa the previous week , he was signed off as injured for both EC games. Because of an alleged "viral disease", he was moved to the central military hospital in Bad Saarow , where he was treated as an inpatient for six weeks. The exact reasons could ultimately never be proven.
