Rolf Lennart "Riddarn" Ridderwall (born November 20, 1958 ) is a former Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper who played for Djurgårdens IF and AIK Solna in the Elitserien , among others, from 1981 to 1994 . His son Stefan and his nephew Calle are also ice hockey players.

Career

Rolf Ridderwall began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Djurgårdens IF , for whose professional team he was active from 1981 to 1990 in the Elitserien , the highest Swedish league. With his team, the goalkeeper won the Swedish championship title in the 1982/83 , 1988/89 and 1989/90 seasons . He was also runner-up with his team in the 1984/85 season . He himself was also successful during his time at Djurgårdens IF and had the best catch quota in 1987 and 1988, and in 1988 also the lowest goals against goals of the Elitserien. In 1990 he was also awarded the guldpucken as the best player in the league.

From 1990 to 1992 Ridderwall played for the Boro team in Division 1, which was still second class at the time . He then received a contract with AIK Solna from the Elitserien for the 1992/93 season . With the team he had to accept relegation to Division 1 at the end of the season, in which he succeeded in direct promotion in 1994 with AIK Solna. He then ended his career at the age of 35.

International

For Sweden Ridderwall took part in the World Championships in 1985 , 1989 , 1990 and 1991 . At the 1990 World Cup he and his team won the silver medal and the gold medal at the 1991 World Cup. He was also in his country's squad at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo and 1984 and 1991 at the Canada Cup . At the 1984 Winter Games he won the bronze medal with Sweden, and at the 1984 Canada Cup he and his team took second place.
