Rolf Rische

Rolf Rische (born February 11 , 1962 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist and media manager .

Career

Rische is head of the main department for culture and life (TV, online, radio) and program director of the German-language TV program of Deutsche Welle .

The culture and life department is responsible for cultural reporting for the news magazine “Der Tag” on DW's German-language TV program and for “The Day” on its English-language TV program. In addition, the Culture and Life main department produces the daily TV magazine “ Euromaxx ”, which can be seen in the TV programs of Deutsche Welle and its partners. There are also the weekly magazines “ PopXport - Das Deutsche Musikmagazin ” | produced in German and English "PopXport - The German Music Magazine", KINO - Das Filmmagazin | KINO - The Movie Magazine, Check-In - Das Reisemagazin | Check-In - The Travel Guide and “ Shift - Living in the Digital World ” or “Shift - Living in the Digital Age”. In addition, the main department for Culture and Life produces the weekly culture magazine “Kultur.21” and “Arts.21”, the TV music series “Europe in Concert - Top Acts live” and the classical music magazine “Sarah's Music” with Sarah in German and English Willis .

Rische is also responsible for the German and English-language culture section of Deutsche Welle's online service (text, image, video, audio).

Rolf Rische developed TV and online formats for Deutsche Welle. Including magazines such as “Euromaxx - Life and Culture in Europe” (2003) and “Clipmania - the best videos and their makers” (2008). In addition, he developed numerous documentary productions such as "The Promise of Music" (2008), "Forever And A Day - Der Scorpionsfilm" (2015) or "Afro.Deutschland" (2017). In summer 2017 he developed and implemented the TV, book and online project “50 Kitchens, One Home”. In 2017 he developed the talk and music show "Privatkonzert" (English version: "Nightgrooves") with Kim Fisher and Wigald Boning as a co-production by Deutsche Welle and MDR, which was shown both on Deutsche Welle and in the third program of the MDR. 

Since March 2017, Rische has been program director of the newly aligned German-language TV program of Deutsche Welle. Rolf Rische played a key role in developing the new program with a cultural profile.

Before working as the main department head for Culture and Life, Rische worked at Deutsche Welle until 2014 as the main department head Society and Documentation, until 2011 as the department head Society and Entertainment, until 2003 as the department head Germany today and until 1998 as the program area head Society and Culture.

His first position at Deutsche Welle was from 1992 to 1995 as head of the youth program. In this function he was responsible for a. the program “100 GRAD”, most recently moderated by Steffen Hallaschka , which was produced in co-production with the ORB and was also shown at times in 3sat and Das Erste .

Before joining Deutsche Welle, Rische worked from 1987 to 1992 as an editor, reporter and director for Südwestfunk television in Baden-Baden. He works u. a. for the programs “Landesschau”, “Abendschau”, “Tagesschau”, “Politik Südwest” and the cultural channel Eins Plus.

Before that, Rische worked as a newspaper editor for the " Stuttgarter Nachrichten " until 1987 .

From 1983 to 1985 Rische completed an editorial traineeship at the “ Vaihinger Kreiszeitung ” (central editorial office “Stuttgarter Nachrichten”). From 1985 to 1986 he attended the German School of Journalism in Munich.

Rolf Rische is a member of the supervisory board of Beethovenfeste gGmbH, Bonn and a member of the support group of the German School of Journalism, Munich.

In addition to his work as a journalist and media manager, Rolf Rische is also repeatedly active as a copywriter, screenwriter and musician.

Rolf Rische is married to the art director Karin Rische. He lives in Kleinmachnow.
