Rolf Weber (botanist)

Rolf Weber (born May 30, 1922 in Plauen ; † March 2, 2015 ibid) was a German teacher, botanist and local researcher .

Following a successful 1941 training as a radio operator Weber was in World War II, used from 1942 soldier at the front. In 1943 he was taken prisoner by the US . After returning home, he attended a course for new teachers as a primary school teacher in Zwickau in 1948 . He completed a pedagogical distance learning course in biology in the middle school from 1952 to 1954. Subsequently he worked as a teacher, later a senior teacher, in Pöhl and Jocketa in the scientific educational work. From 1959 he was deputy director of the pedagogical district cabinet and head of the district office for teaching materials in Plauen / Land. He acted as a specialist advisor for school garden lessons and for agriculture within the framework of the “ Class Day in Socialist Production ” and from 1966 as a specialist advisor for biology in the Plauen district . He has been retired since 1987.

Rolf Weber was a co-founder and long-time leader of the Vogtland Botanists' working group. Alone or with others he published several books, brochures and magazines or newspaper articles on flora , vegetation and nature conservation as well as the local history of the Vogtland .
