Rolf Winnewisser (born June 5, 1949 in Niedergösgen , Canton Solothurn ) is a Swiss draftsman , painter , printmaker and object artist .

life and work

Winnewisser grew up in Lucerne and attended the "School for Design" there from 1966 to 1971, from which he completed an apprenticeship as a graphic designer. In 1972 he was invited by Harald Szeemann and Jean-Christophe Ammann to take part in documenta 5 in Kassel . From 1972 to 1974 he worked as a draftsman in a project for literacy in Tillabéri , Niger . From 1974 he was a freelance artist with teaching assignments , including at the School of Design and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich . As a result, he lived and worked in frequently changing locations, including Lucerne, Zurich, Banjul / Gambia , New York , Schongau , Rome and London . From 1989 to 1995 he lived in Paris, then in Birrwil , Canton Aargau . Today the artist lives and works in Ennetbaden AG.
