The Romance Yearbook ( RJb ) is a yearbook of Romance languages and literature that was founded by Olaf Deutschmann , Rudolf Grossmann , Hellmuth Petriconi and Hermann Tiemann in Hamburg and first appeared in 1949 (as volume 1 of the Romance Yearbook from 1947 to 1948, published by Hansischer Gildenverlag Joachim Heitmann & Co). The yearbook is published annually by Walter de Gruyter Verlag , based in Berlin and Boston . As an aid to indexing the volumes, two index volumes with name and subject indices have been published.

The Romance Yearbook decides on the acceptance of contributions in a peer review process. The RJb provides information about the representation of Romance language, literature and cultural studies at the universities of Germany and Austria and, in addition to the accepted dissertations and habilitations, also records the dissertation projects being processed at these universities. In the structure of the scientific articles, the RJb comprises two parts. In the first part - in addition to reviews - essays on central linguistic and literary questions with Romansh-comparative and / or individual language topics are published; the subsequent Ibero-Romance language section is devoted to the problems of Ibero-Romance studies ( Spanish / Portuguese in and outside Europe, Catalan ); Like research reports, reviews represent the current research situation. All articles are preceded by an English abstract .

The editors for the chronicle and for the literary studies area are based at the Romance Department of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum , those for the linguistics department at the Romance Department of the University of Freiburg .

editor

After the founders Walter Pabst , Erich Köhler , Margot Kruse , Hans Bottle , Wido Hempel , Wolf-Dieter Stempel (* 1929), Bernhard König , Andreas Kablitz , Joachim Küpper and Peter Koch belonged to the circle of editors .

Up to volume 64 the year number and the year of publication of the individual volumes were not identical; the yearbook was always published one year apart. In 2015 a double volume of the RJb was published as volume 65/66 (2014/15), with which the year of the volume and the year of publication were brought into line.

  • Volume 67 will appear in 2016 as RJb 2016 (with a chronicle 2015).

At the same time as this adjustment, the group of editors has changed:

  • Volume 64 was edited by Daniel Jacob, Andreas Kablitz, Peter Koch , Bernhard König , Margot Kruse , Joachim Küpper and Christian Schmitt .
  • Volume 65/66 was edited by Folke Gernert, Daniel Jacob, Andreas Kablitz, Bernhard König, Joachim Küpper, David Nelting, Christian Schmitt, Maria Selig and Susanne Zepp, while from Volume 67 the yearbook by Folke Gernert, Daniel Jacob, David Nelting, Christian Schmitt, Maria Selig and Susanne Zepp are responsible as editors.
