The Romedius pilgrimage route , also known as the Romedius route , is a pilgrimage and hiking route that leads from the Romedius Church in Thaur to San Romedio , i.e. from North Tyrol via South Tyrol to Trentino . The path should also convey the nature and cultural diversity of the European region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino as well as allow moments of rest and contemplation . The path is named after St. Romedius .

The trail leads to places of pilgrimage , shrines , wayside shrines , pastures and on mountain passes and border crossings .

Key data

The Romedius pilgrimage route, classified as difficult, is 184.3  km long, with ascents over a total of 9728  m and descents over a total of 9773 m. The highest point of the route is the Schneebergscharte (Kaindljoch) at 2,700 m , the lowest point is at 293 m in Merano . The walking time is given as almost 65 hours, for which 12 daily stages are estimated.

Surefootedness and mountain experience are required for certain sections of the route .

initiation

In 2014, the Tyrolean mountain guide Hans Staud, together with Pastor Martin Ferner, both from Thaur, launched the Romedius pilgrimage; Preparations began in 2013. The occasion was the 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Innsbruck .

  3. Stage: Trins - Obernberg
  4. Stage: Obernberg - Innerpflersch (St. Anton)
  5. Stage: Innerpflersch (St. Anton) - Maiern in the Ridnauntal
  6. Stage: Maiern in the Ridnauntal - St. Martin am Schneeberg
  7. Stage: St. Martin am Schneeberg - Pfelders
  8. Stage: Pfelders - Bockerhütte
  9. Stage: Bockerhütte - Völlan
  10. Stage: Völlan - Our Lady in the Forest
  11. Stage: Our Lady in the Forest - Romeno
  12. Stage: Romeno - San Romedio
