Romesh Ranganathan (* 27. March 1978 in Crawley , West Sussex , England ) is a British stand-up - entertainers and actors .

Private life

Ranganathan comes from the Sri Lankan Tamils , lives vegan , is Hindu and supporter of Arsenal FC

Ranganathan grew up in Crawley , West Sussex and studied mathematics at Birkbeck College of the University of London . He taught his subject at the Hazelwick School in Crawley and made it to the finals of a nationwide freestyle rap competition in the United Kingdom as a freestyle rapper under the name "Ranga" .

He is married and has three children.

Career

Ranganathan started as a teacher with the first comedian attempts.

He was nominated for Best Newcomer in 2013 at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards .

Ranganathan hosted the satirical sketch show Newsjack on BBC Radio 4 Extra in 2014 .

In 2015 he appeared at The Royal Variety Performance . In the same year he shot the three-part series Asian Provocateur about the homeland of his ancestors in Sri Lanka for BBC Three .

In 2016 he co-hosted alongside Rachel Riley and Ben Miller in It's Not Rocket Science . In October 2016, he traveled to North America with his mother in a BBC documentary and met relatives there.

In 2017 he co-hosted the series The Museum of Curiosity with John Lloyd .

In 2018 he started his first own stand-up comedy show with Irrational Live and started another documentary series for Showtime , Just Another Immigrant , which was released in June 2018.
