Ron Ramin

Ronald "Ron" Ramin (* 1953 in New York ) is an American film composer .

life and career

Ramin is the son of the composer Sid Ramin and the singer Gloria Ramin, nee Breit.

Ramin grew up in New York. He studied at Princeton University and then settled in Los Angeles , where he began a career as a film composer.

In 1994 he received an Emmy nomination in the musical composition category for a series (Dramatic Underscore) for his work on the pilot of the series Christy . In 1996 he was recognized at the CableACE Awards in the Original Score category for his work on Rent-a-Kid - Family on Trial .

He later turned back to composing concert music. His suite Golden State of Mind was performed live by the Marin Symphony in 2014.

He has been married to the journalist and author Cathryn Jakobson Ramin since 1988 . The marriage resulted in two sons. The family lives in Northern California.
