Ronald Morris "Ron" Rose (born September 4, 1944 in Vancouver , Washington , † October 24, 2019 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) was a professional American poker player . He won a bracelet in the World Series of Poker and two titles in the World Poker Tour .
Personal
Rose served in the United States Air Force for seven years . He later founded, developed and sold several companies and worked as a market maker on the NYSE American stock exchange . Rose died in October 2019 at the age of 75, leaving three children and his wife, to whom he was married for over 50 years.
Poker career
Rose took part in prestigious live tournaments from 2000 .
At the end of April 2001 Rose was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas and came in the money in a tournament of the Pot Limit Omaha variant . In June 2001, he won three tournaments in nine days at the Aviation Club de France in Paris and secured prize money equivalent to over 55,000 US dollars . He finished second at the World Poker Open in Tunica in mid-January 2002 and received more than $ 60,000. In early April 2003, Rose won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Reno with a prize of just under 170,000 US dollars. At the 2003 WSOP , he won the Seniors Championship and received the grand prize of around $ 130,000 and a bracelet . In December 2003, Rose played the WPT's Battle of Champions at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, for which he qualified by winning the WPT in April of that year. He won the tournament and received $ 125,000 in prize money. Rose's last cash placement was in late September 2006.
In total, Rose has made more than $ 1 million in poker playing live tournaments.
