Ronald Werner (born September 18, 1963 ) is a former German soccer player .
Athletic career
The defender trained at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig did not make it into the top division of GDR football . In the second-rate league , however, with more than 200 appearances, he was one of the most prominent players in the mid and late 1980s .
At the time of reunification in the GDR, the 1.77 meter tall defensive force kicked at TSG Markkleeberg after his NVA honorary service , during which he ran for ASG Vorwärts Dessau . Werner had been a member of the Randleipzig team , at that time still as TSG Chemie, after leaving 1. FC Lok Leipzig, of which he was part of the junior league team . With the meanwhile operating as 1. FC Markkleeberg, the defender played after the merger of East and West German football between 1991 and 1994 in the third-class NOFV amateur league .
In the second half of 1994 he was only under six months under contract with FC Carl Zeiss Jena . The team from the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld , at that time in the third highest division , was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the 1994/95 season . At this point in the season, Roland Werner was already back in Saxony.
In the mid-1990s, he also made the leap to second class in professional football throughout Germany . At VfB Leipzig , to which he was transferred from Jena at the beginning of 1995, he is one of the top 10 professionals used in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Coaching career
Near his active career he stayed in football as a coach. He served in the central German space including the Bornaer SV and SV Motor Altenburg .
