Roope Latvala (born June 25, 1970 in Helsinki , Finland ) is a Finnish musician. He plays guitar in the metal bands Sinergy and Stone - until 2015 also with Children of Bodom .

Career

At the age of 15, Latvala founded his first band Stone, in which he played the electric guitar until it broke up in 1991 and on the first two albums Stone and No Anaesthesia! Contributed backing vocals. Stone released a total of four studio albums, as well as a live album and a compilation .

After Stone broke up, Latvala played in various projects such as Waltari , Soulgrind, Jailbreakers and Latvala Bros. and also composed several soundtracks for various films and operas.

In 1999 he joined the Finnish all-star project Sinergy.

Latvala has contributed to numerous releases by various bands such as Amon Amarth, Divine: Decay, Evince and Warm Guest Guitar Parts.

Children of Bodom Latvala joined the Finnish melodic death metal band Children of Bodom in 2003 to replace Alexander Kuoppala, from whom the group had split up due to personal differences. In 2005 Latvala performed on the band's fifth studio album Are You Dead Yet? his debut.

Before joining Children of Bodom, he worked as a tram driver for a while.

In May 2015, shortly before the start of the recordings for the ninth studio album, Children of Bodom announced that Latvala had left the band. You split up without bad blood, so the band. Contrary to this position, Latvala stated, among other things, that he felt "deceived" and that his expulsion came "without [further] explanation". Latvala was temporarily replaced by Antti Wirman (Warmen) for some live shows. Daniel Freyberg (Naildown, Norther) was finally signed as a permanent replacement.

Equipment

Latvala played mostly Jackson - Randy Rhoads models, but signed an endorsement contract after joining Children Of Bodom at ESP . His signature model "Random Star" is available for purchase in various versions.
