Rory Bosio (born August 13, 1984 ) is an American ultramarathon and mountain runner .

Life

Bosio grew up in a small town near Lake Tahoe . She got to know the world of extreme runs early on through the ultra marathon runner Laura Vaughn. During his school days and studies at the University of California, Davis , Bosio trained in cross-country teams, and she also accompanied Vaughn on their training runs. In 2007 Bosio competed in her first ultra marathon, the Silver State 50/50 . She won and set a new course record. The North Face sponsored the hitherto unknown athlete. In the following years, Bosio established himself in the ultra marathon and mountain running scene. In 2013 she won the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc . She undercut the women's route record on the 166 km circuit around Mont Blanc in 22:37:26 by more than 2 hours. In the overall standings, Bosio took 7th place. This makes her the first woman among the ten fastest runners in the competition. In 2014 she repeated this success and covered the route in 23:23:20. With this victory and winning the North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail , Bosio achieved 9th place in the first-ever Ultra-Trail World Tour in 2014 .

For the documentary series Boundless by the US pay-TV broadcaster Esquire Network, Bosio and four other endurance athletes visited seven countries in three continents in 2015 to take on extreme competitions in running, mountain biking, skiing, swimming and climbing. Filming lasted ten months. The program was broadcast in spring 2016.

Bosio works as a pediatric nurse in an intensive care unit and lives near Truckee , California .
