Eduard von Reckow

Leopold August Eduard von Reckow (* 1769 on Gut Loddin near Stolp ; † April 29, 1835 in Düsseldorf ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

From May 26, 1776, Reckow first visited the cadet house in Stolp and later in Berlin . On June 2, 1787 he was employed as a corporal in the infantry regiment "zu Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen" of the Prussian army . Here he advanced to second lieutenant until September 1793 and took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . From 1801 to 1804 Reckow was commanded to carry out military surveys in South Prussia and on October 8, 1806 was promoted to staff captain . During the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the battles at Pultuskand Friedland . On January 18, 1807, he was assigned to the General Staff of the Russian Army . For his work at Pultusk Reckow received the order Pour le Mérite on August 8, 1807 .

On October 1, 1807, Reckow became an army officer and on June 17, 1808, he received the Order of St. Vladimir IV class with cockade from Russia . On August 20, 1808 he was promoted to captain and came as a company commander in the Colberg Infantry Regiment . On January 8, 1812 he became major and commander of the Fusilier Battalion. On August 11, 1813, he was appointed commander of the 9th Reserve Infantry Regiment . During the Wars of Liberation Reckow fought in the battles at Großgörschen , Bautzen , Großbeeren , Dennewitz , Leipzig , Laon and Ligny . He was wounded near Bautzen and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class. For Dennewitz he received the First Class Cross and for Ligny the Order of Saint Anne . He also took part in the assault on Arnhem and the sieges of Stettin , Wittenberg , Soissons and the battles near Wittenberg, Hallen, Siegerdorf, Compiegne and the blockades of Philippeville and Givet. In the time he was on 11 January 1814 patent on March 6, 1814. Lieutenant Colonel and on October 3, 1815 Colonel promoted.

After the war, Reckow was appointed inspector of the Landwehr in the Aachen government department on October 10, 1817 , and on November 14, 1817, was aggregated into the 21st Infantry Regiment. On February 20, 1820 he was promoted to command of the 16th Infantry Brigade and in this capacity on March 30, 1821 with patent from April 1, 1821 to major general. At the beginning of August 1823 he received the service cross , on March 30, 1827 he was commander of the 14th Landwehr Brigade and at the end of November 1830 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. Reckow was given the character of Lieutenant General on March 18, 1834, with a pension of 2250 thalers. He died on April 29, 1835 in Düsseldorf.

Reckow married Jeannette Florentine Förster (1776–1855) in 1796. The couple had several children:
