Rose Marie Mazetta (born August 15, 1923 in New York City - † December 28, 2017 in Van Nuys , California ) was an American comedian , singer and actress .

Life

Rose Marie Mazetta was born in New York City to Frank Mazetta of Italian descent and Stella Gluszcak of Polish descent. She was already on stage at the age of three. When she was five, she had her own radio show on NBC Radio and recorded records. Her recording of the song Say That You Were Teasing Me became a hit in 1932. She made her first two short films with Sea Sore (1933) and Flippen's Frolics (1936) under the pseudonym Baby Rose Marie . In the comedy International House , she starred on the side of WC Fields and George Burns .

In adulthood, she was able to successfully continue her career in theater, radio and television. She has appeared in stage shows and nightclubs with artists such as Jimmy Durante , Milton Berle , Edgar Bergen , Dick Powell and Rudy Vallée . On Broadway , she achieved great success in 1951 alongside Phil Silvers in the comedy Top Banana , and she was also seen in the 1954 film adaptation of the play. In the 1960s, she became a well-known television actress: She played the role of sharp-tongued and selbstwussten Gagwriterin 1961-1966 Sally Rogers in The Dick Van Dyke Show , and later she was to 1971 regularly in the television show of the 1968 Doris Day to see. Rose Marie has appeared as an actress well into the new millennium, including starring in the horror film Shriek if you know what I saw last Friday the 13th (2001).

The actress was married to the trumpeter Bobby Guy from 1946 until his death in 1964; the couple had a daughter together. With Hold the Roses in 2003 her autobiography was published. Rose Marie died in December 2017 at the age of 94.
