Roseville is a city in Macomb County in the US state of Michigan and is located in Metro Detroit . Until 1958, Roseville was part of the Erin Township . In 2000 there were 48,129 residents here.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Roseville was inhabited by 48,129 people. The population density was 1894.3 people per km ². There were 20,519 housing units at an average of 807.6 per km². The Roseville population was 93.43% White , 2.60% Black or African American , 0.42% Native American , 1.63% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , 0.32% of other races belong to and 1.57% named two or more races. 1.50% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.

Interstate 94 runs through Roseville as a north-south axis, Interstate 696 crosses the city as an east-west connection. Roseville is on Michigan State Route 3 which runs from Detroit to Mount Clemens and traverses the city as Gratiot Avenue. The road is named after the engineer Charles Gratiot ( [græ'ʃət] ). The Michigan State Route 97 runs than after Michigan's former Governor Alex Groesbeck named Groesbeck Highway on the western edge of the city and connects Detroit with the north of Macomb County. A major road link within the city is the diagonal Utica Road, which begins on Gratiot Avenue and runs northwest to Sterling Heights and Utica .
