Ross Langdon

Ross Langdon (born July 19, 1980 in Nubeena , Tasmania , † September 21, 2013 in Nairobi , Kenya ) was an Australian - British architect .

biography

Langdon was born on the Tasman Peninsula and grew up in Nubeena , Tasmania . He studied architecture from 1999 to 2000 at the University of Tasmania and from 2000 to 2004 at the University of Sydney , graduating with the University Medal in autumn 2004. In 2008 he founded Langdon Reis Architects in London with the architect Ana Reis , before working as an architect for Regional Associates in London and Melbourne. Langdon received the University of Sydney's Young Alumni Award for Achievement for building a hospital for AIDS sufferers in Uganda free of charge . Immediately before his death, he took over the planning for a museum for African early history in Rwanda .

On September 21, 2013, he and his Dutch partner Elif Yavuz of Turkish origin, who was eight months pregnant, were killed by Islamist terrorists in the attack on the Westgate shopping center . Yavuz had lived in Cambridge , Massachusetts after graduating from Harvard University . Yavuz only started charitable work for the Clinton Foundation in Tanzania in the summer of 2013 and works as a doctor and expert on malaria and AIDS diseases for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Kenya .
