Roth is a district of the town of Römhild in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

geography

Roth is located on the foothills of the Großer Gleichberg . The Spleen , which is dammed in two reservoirs, flows from the Gleichberg through the village towards Simmershausen . The two reservoirs, An der Ober Milz and Am Bruchbach, are known and appreciated in the whole area for recreation and sometimes for swimming.

history

The first mention dates back to the year 1198, where it as deserted village Roda is called. When Einpfarrung the church in Bedheim in 1321, little was Marienkirche in Roth mentioned for the first time. She stands in the middle of the village in the walled cemetery. Like that of Gleichamberg, the shape of the village corresponds to a clustered village .

From 1581 to 1689 Roth was persecuted by witches . Three women got into witch trials .

On March 23, 1993, Roth was incorporated into the community of Gleichamberg.
