Haina is a district of the town of Römhild in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

location

Haina is located north of Römhild in the historical landscape of the grave field in southern Thuringia . The village is affected by the state road 1131, which connects the southern Thuringian region with Bavaria .

Sülzdorf was part of the community of Haina from 1974 .

history

Haina is a clustered village and was first mentioned in a document on February 27, 839.

In 1842 Christian Heurich was born in Haina as the son of an innkeeper. He lived in the place for the first twelve years. At the beginning of the 20th century he donated a spacious kindergarten to his place of birth.

From 1945 to 1990 the village was near the inner-German border .

On December 31, 2012, the municipality of Haina dissolved and merged with the city of Römhild and other municipalities to form the new city of Römhild.

Economy and Infrastructure

Haina had a breakpoint between 1893 and 1970 on the now closed Rentwertshausen – Römhild railway line .
