The Route 43 or R 43 is a highway in the Sultanate of Oman . The highway leads from the small town of Thumrait through the Rub al-Chali on to Shisr , the lost city on the Frankincense Route , to Al-Hashman. Except for Shisr, the R43 is not paved. A parallel road replaces Route 43 to Shisr; from here Al-Hashman can only be reached via the desert dirt road.
