The Route 9 or R9 is a highway in the Sultanate of Oman . The trunk road leads from the Al Khaburah R / A and junction on Route 1 , over the central Hajar Mountains to Ibri , where Route 9 ends and crosses with Route 21 . The R9 is single-lane to al-Hudschairimat, from here it leads as a two-lane motorway to Ibri. In Ibri, the R9 ends at the intersection with Route 21 . Instead of R9, the name "Al Khaburah-Miskin Road" is common.
Course in the Shamal al-Batina region
Route 9 begins at Al-Khaburah R / A on Route 1 , which leads north towards the industrial city of Suhar and south towards the capital Muscat . Shortly after the roundabout, al-Chabura ends and the road leads into the middle of the Hajar Mountains . After 20 kilometers the road leads through the village of Ghuzayn and after another 5 kilometers through the mountains through the village of Ghab. Before the governorate border, the road serpentines along a wadi.
Course in the az-Zahira region
More and more scattered settlements are on the roadside and the road leads out of the mountains. 20 kilometers after the governorate border, the R9 crosses with Route 10 . Shortly afterwards, the small town of Miskin is on the R9. Shortly after al-Hawmaniyya, the trunk road becomes a highway. Now the R9 leads in two lanes through the hilly landscape. After several smaller towns the road crosses with Route 8 in ad-Dariz . The first suburbs of Ibris, al-Aynayn and al-ʿAraqi appear next to the highway. 4 km long, the R9 through Ibri until at Ibri Centrum R / A ends . From here Route 21 leads north towards the state border with the United Arab Emirates and south towards the provincial capital Nizwa .
