The Route 7 or R7 is a highway in the Sultanate of Oman . The highway runs from Falaj al Qabail R / A to Tawi al Rawashid R / A near the border town of Buraimi . Route 7 actually continues to the center of Buraimi and then further into the United Arab Emirates , but this section is not signposted. The R7 has been expanded with two lanes each along the entire route. Instead of R7, the name “ Sohar-Buraimi Road ” is common.
Course in the Shamal al-Batina region
The beginning is at Falaj al Quabil R / A on Route 1 , from here you can go south to Sohar and Muscat and north to Schinas and the United Arab Emirates. After 3 kilometers, the first exit is to Sohar Airport . After another 20 kilometers through the open desert there are some copper mines and the settlement of al-Mulayna. There are only three small settlements scattered over 20 kilometers to the border with the al-Buraimi region : Suhayla, Chan and Hansi.
Course in the al-Buraimi region
It is 15 kilometers from the border with the Shamal al-Batina region to the Omani border control post, along this route there are several villages such as Hayl, Rabi and al-Wasit. The border station is in the middle of Oman's territory for the reason that the border was not officially established, it only serves as a checkpoint. Humaydah R / A is 8 kilometers after the border station . From here, a side road leads 75 kilometers north to Route 5 . There is also a road to Humayda. The Route 7 leads another 15 kilometers further to the Tawi al Rawashid R / A . This is the real end of Route 7, the road heading south into the United Arab Emirates, the road number is E7. It runs along the border until it joins Route 21 .
Theoretical further section to Buraimi
After the Tawi al Rawashid R / A , the road leads over 18 kilometers to the center of the border town of Buraimi, with the Buraimi University right at the beginning . Buraimi begins 5 kilometers from the center. This part also ends at Central-Buraimi R / A , because behind it lies the Emirati part of Buraimi, al-Ain . The R7 merges into the E66 here.
