The route is part of the European Route of Industrial Culture , the concept of which was adopted by the initiators and which was certified as a cultural route by the Council of Europe in 2019 . The Route of Industrial Culture in the Northwest has existed since 2010.

Initiators

The route of industrial culture in the northwest is run by the Nordwolle museums in Delmenhorst , the Delmenhorst city marketing department , the Bremen - Oldenburg metropolitan region . V. and the European Route of Industrial Heritage .

Destination of the route

The initiators want to create awareness that the sentence: “Industrial history is elsewhere.” Does not apply to northwest Germany . It is true that the development of the region differs from the German “ core industrialization” in the 19th century; Nevertheless, it shows all the historically typical traits and characteristics of industrialization: Agriculture and trade have been separated from traditional forms of economic activity and have entered the supraregional market. The mechanization of land management has led to the development of a modern and effective (transport) infrastructure. The range of offers on the route ranges from the history of intensified peat utilization to the tobacco and textile industry , shipping and port industry , to the modernization of fire extinguishing .
