Rowen Fernandez (born February 28, 1978 in Springs , Gauteng ) is a former South African - German soccer goalkeeper .

career

Fernandez began his career at Wits University . In 2001 he moved to the Kaizer Chiefs . At first he was only a substitute behind Brian Baloyi . He was bitten by a spider in April 2003 and was out for the remainder of the season. The following season he benefited from an injury to Baloyi. In his absence he fought for the regular place in the gate. In 2004 and 2005 he became South African champions with the club. In 2006 she won the ABSA Cup .

For the 2007/08 season Fernandez received a three-year contract with Arminia Bielefeld , which he signed on May 22, 2007, following his former coach Ernst Middendorp into the Bundesliga. Trivia

  • Fernandez's nickname is "The Spider" (sometimes also "The Spider" or " Spider-Man ").
