Rowlett is a city in Rockwall County and Dallas County in the US state of Texas in the United States and is part of the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex.
geography
The city is located in northeast Texas, about 30 km northeast of Dallas , 6 km east of Garland , in the west of Rockwall County, extends into Dallas County, borders in the east and south on Lake Ray Hubbard , in the west on Rowlett Creek and has a total area of 52.4 km², of which 0.1 km² is water.
history
The place was named after Dr. Daniel Rowlett, who came to this area in 1836 and settled here.

According to the 2000 census, 44,503 people lived here in 14,266 households and 12,354 families. The population density was 849.4 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 81.81% White, 9.01% African American, 0.49% Native American, 3.33% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, and 3.53% other ethnic groups. About 1.78% were mixed race and 8.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 14,266 households, 53.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 75.3% of them were married couples living together. 8.0% were single mothers and 13.4% were non-families. 10.6% of all households were single households and there were people living in 2.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.09 and the average family size was 3.33 people.
