Rowing club Wiking Bregenz

The rowing club Wiking Bregenz was founded in 1900 . The club house is located in Bregenz on Lake Constance .

The club is one of the oldest and largest rowing clubs in Austria and has around 380 active members. The rowing club is a member of the Austrian Rowing Association (ÖRV) and the Sports Union .

In 1997, the Lochau rowing club on Lake Constance split off from the club, but in 2004 the Lochau racing department merged again with the Wiking rowing club.

Racing is very much promoted and supported in the club. Even the hiking Rowing has a high priority.

International success

In addition to several medals in national championships, the rowers of RV Wiking Bregenz achieved various good placements at the Summer Olympic Games , World and European Championships in rowing.

  • 1989 in Bled : 10th place for Martin and Christof Kessler in the lightweight quadruple scull with Michael Minarik and Werner Stadler (both Ellida Vienna)
  • 1990 in Hobart : 11th place for Martin and Christof Kessler in the lightweight quadruple scull with Michael Minarik and Rainer Morawa (both Ellida Wien)
  • 1991 in Vienna : 17th place for Martin and Christof Kessler and Thomas Böhler in the lightweight quadruple scull with Heimo Hinterer (Ister Linz)
  • 1995 in Tampere : 7th place for Thomas Böhler in the lightweight eight with Bernd Wakolbinger, Florian Meissl, Andreas Rauch (all Wiking Linz), Siegfried Sageder, Herbert Dieplinger (both Danube Linz), Peter Bernhofer, Jens Reindl (both Möve Salzburg) , Stm. Martin Maier (LIA Vienna); Bernd Längle was there as a substitute
  • 1996 in Glasgow : 11th place for Thomas Böhler in the lightweight quadruple scull with Peter Bernhofer, Jens Reindl and Gerald Aigner (all Möve Salzburg)

European championships

  • 1954 in Amsterdam : Silver medal for Hilde Unterberger, Siegrid Freuis, Lore Kafka, Lisbeth Kaibitsch, Stf. Irma Roth in a foursome with a taxwoman
