Rudolf Fricke

Rudolf Fricke (born December 27, 1899 in Braunschweig ; † October 31, 1981 there ) was a German graphic artist and Braunschweig local researcher .

Life

The son of a trimmings maker attended the high school butt brothers in Braunschweig . The subsequent commercial apprenticeship at the company Pfeiffer and Schmidt was followed by studies at the Braunschweig School of Applied Arts and Crafts, today's HBK , which Fricke graduated with a diploma as a painter and graphic designer. Artistically he was particularly influenced by Günther Clausen . Fricke joined the NSDAP in 1932 . From 1935 he was employed as a cultural advisor for the city of Braunschweig. He took part in World War II as a combat draftsman. From 1942 until his release in 1945 he worked as a district home nurse. From 1958 until his retirement he was employed as a collection manager at the Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum . In 1977 Fricke was honored with the Lower Saxony Order of Merit on ribbon.

His artistic work mainly includes pen drawings and linocuts. Fricke was involved in the restoration of the destroyed Braunschweig old town market fountain. Several publications on the history of the city resulted from his work as a local researcher in Braunschweig.
