Friedrich Rudolf Gieseler (born September 29, 1873 in Weenzen ; † September 17, 1931 in Nordhausen ) was a German völkisch politician ( DVFP , DVFB, DNVP ).

Life

Gieseler completed a degree in forest science at the Royal Prussian Forest Academy in Hannoversch Münden and at the universities in Strasbourg and Leipzig . He passed the state examination in 1901 and then entered the Prussian service as a forest assessor. On behalf of the German Empire , he was given leave of absence from July 1, 1904 to April 1, 1907 in order to set up a regulated forest administration in the northern districts of the German East Africa colony ( Usambara region / Wugiri ). After his return he continued his service in the Prussian forest administration. During the First World War he was the commander of the 1st battalion of the Landwehr Fusilier Regiment No. 61.

After the end of the war, Gieseler was commander of the Gieseler Freikorps until September 15, 1919 , which consisted of a squadron, two batteries and 2,000 volunteer hunters. The Freikorps was deployed between the cities of Strasburg and Soldau in West Prussia . Following the Versailles Treaty , Gieseler resumed his work in the forest administration, first in Taberbrück , then as the state forester in Trappönen near Ragnit .

Gieseler joined the German National Freedom Party (DVFP) in the 1920s, which was renamed the German National Freedom Movement (DVFB) in February 1925. In December 1924 was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, in May 1928 again for the Völkisch-Nationalen Block (VNB). From 1928 until he joined the German National People's Party (DNVP) on February 17, 1930, he was a member of the German parliamentary group , then a member of the DNVP parliamentary group until his death. In parliament he represented constituency 1 (East Prussia). From 1925 to 1929 he was also a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of East Prussia for the Osterode district .

Rudolf Gieseler was married to Gertrud Schoepffer, the sister of Colonel Eberhard Schoepffer , who had been awarded the Knight's Cross . His son Wolfram Gieseler (* 1906) was also a forester. The expellee politician ran for two unsuccessful candidates on the Rhineland-Palatinate state list for the German Bundestag , in 1957 for the All-German Bloc / Federation of Expellees and Disenfranchised (GB / BHE) and in 1961 for the All-German Party (GDP).
