Rudolf Gray

Rudolf Friedrich Grau (born April 20, 1835 in Heringen (Werra) ; † August 5, 1893 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian at the Albertus University of Königsberg .

As the son of a pastor , Grau studied Protestant theology in Leipzig , Erlangen and Marburg from 1854 to 1857 , where his main teachers were Johann von Hofmann and August Vilmar . In the summer of 1854 he became a member of the Leipzig University Choir of St. Pauli (now the German Choir ). From 1857 to 1869 Grau worked as a private tutor . In 1861 he completed his habilitation in Marburg. After five years as a private lecturer , he was appointed associate professor in 1865 . In 1866 he accepted the call of the Albertina to the chair of Protestant theology. In the year of office 1889/90 he was elected to its prorector . From 1870 he was married to Martha von Behr.
