Textbooks

The intensive occupation with artistic nude photography, often with the use of infrared film, led in 1987 to work at the AKT photo school published by PHOTOGRAPHIE , for which Hillebrand was one of three authors responsible. Equally interested in photo technology and applied photography, Hillebrand often incorporated practical experience from his own photographic work into his editorial contributions, in particular from working in the photo laboratory and alternative methods such as hand-coloring black and white photos, creative Polaroid techniques or infrared photography in artistic use. In 1992 he wrote his first own textbook INFRARED - Photography on a Different Wavelength for the book division of the PHOTOGRAPHIE publishing house (Schaffhausen and Düsseldorf) , which comprehensively deals with infrared photography in technology, science and research, but also in artistic use. On the basis of creative investigations of the then new camera generation Zoom-Kompakte by Josef H. Neumann , Zoomkompakte creatively appeared in 1994 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Japanese camera company Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. aka Pentax in the Photographie publishing house (Schaffhausen). Rudolf Hillebrand gave an intensive presentation of the technical and historical development of the new zoom compacts at Pentax.
